On Tuesday afternoon, West Ham United’s official Twitter account posted ’52 goals in 115 league appearances’ before tagging the club’s new signing Jarrod Bowen.
A profile piece on the attacker was then provided by the club’s official website.
Bowen arrived from Hull City on transfer deadline day, with the 23-year-old signing a five-and-a-half-year contract at the London Stadium.
In theory, it should have been a fairly safe post from the club’s Twitter account, but the West Ham supporters were hardly thrilled judging by their responses.
Indeed, some claimed that there will immediately be huge pressure on the Englishman to lift a team that currently sit inside the relegation zone in the Premier League table.
West Ham have not won in the Premier League since New Year’s Day and threw away a 3-1 lead against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday to draw 3-3.
Call yourself a West Ham expert? How much did each of these January signings cost?
Some of the London club’s fans have claimed Bowen will not be able to prevent the team from dropping into the second tier come the end of the season.
Meanwhile, others have suggested that the former Hull forward will struggle to make his mark during the remainder of the 2019/20 campaign.
Bowen has arrived at the club in good form, though, having netted 16 Championship goals during the current season.
Meanwhile, one West Ham player is allegedly moving closer to the exit door at the London Stadium.
