After really breaking through under Jose Mourinho’s tenure as manager at Manchester United, Scott McTominay has firmly established himself as one of the cornerstones of this current Red Devils side. The Scotland international featured 31 times under the Portuguese boss, and has kicked on since then.
Under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s stewardship this season, McTominay has played in every single Premier League game barring two – against Sheffield United and Aston Villa respectively. After a particularly impressive display in the victory against Tottenham, the Red Devils boss hailed his midfielder for the impact he gives, and even described him as “undroppable”.

But against Everton at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon, the 23-year-old didn’t enjoy the greatest of games. As per Sofascore, he had a disappointing 76% pass accuracy, and despite operating in central midfield only played 38 passes over the course of the 90 minutes. He also lost possession a staggering 17 times as the Everton players looked to force him into mistakes with their pressing.
And after seeing his performance, United fans flooded to Twitter to voice their thoughts on the powerhouse.
A few fans were very critical of the 23-year-old’s passing abilities, with one supporter in particular suggesting it’s far too limited for him to be considered a United player.
After earning the plaudits from his manager for his performance against Spurs, McTominay was nowhere near his best against Duncan Ferguson’s side at the weekend. Being a central midfielder for a club the size of United, means great performances week-in and week-out, and the Scotland international fell short of those standards.
Meanwhile, Manchester United fans laud this starlet following his appearance against AZ Alkmaar.
