According to ESPN sources, Jose Mourinho would be open to taking the Arsenal job should it become available.
What’s the story?
It is hard to ignore the increased pressure on current Gunners boss Unai Emery. After just two wins in eight Premier League games, there are now also reports emerging that he has lost the dressing room at the Emirates Stadium.

Mourinho is currently out of a job at the moment following his sacking by Manchester United in December of last year and now, according to ESPN, he would consider stepping into the dugout in north London.
The report adds that he would like to win trophies with three Premier League clubs, but would need assurances that there would be plenty of money to spend should he come in.
Vanity project
The Portuguese boss is a winner. That is undeniable. He has won eight league titles, two Champions Leagues, two UEFA Cup/Europa Leagues and countless domestic trophies during a career which has seen him coach some of the best teams in European football.

Having spent close to a year on the sidelines, he is surely eager to return to managing, and the Arsenal link makes sense considering the current circumstances.
His desire to win is still there, clearly, but it is absolutely imperative that the Gunners resist the temptation to hire the 56-year-old.
The problem is, taking up a role at Arsenal would be nothing but a vanity project for Mourinho. We have already seen his apparent inability to stay in a role for more than three years – only in his first spell at Chelsea did he last more than a trio of seasons, and even that was just by a couple of months.
It seems unlikely that the old dog will be learning any new tricks at this point.
The former Real Madrid man puts himself first, and thinks far too much of himself. Ever since he called himself “a special one” in 2004, he has spoken glowingly about his own record without a hint of irony. No-one will forget his desire to show off his three Premier League medals whilst at Manchester United as his tenure crumbled.
He has also criticised Arsenal in the past for being “boring” and was often at loggerheads with Arsene Wenger.
Right now, there is a lot of tension at the Emirates. There is not a worse man you could throw into the mix than Mourinho.
Yes, he is a winner, but that will not be enough at Arsenal. With their rich history, they are better than just a vanity project. As such, they should look elsewhere.
