Liverpool fans have been left baffled that Lewis Dunk’s goal against them for Brighton & Hove Albion was allowed to stand.
The central defender took a quick free-kick against the Reds, passing the ball into the bottom corner.
Goalkeeper Alisson Becker had been sent off moments before for handling the ball outside the area and Adrian, his replacement, was attempting to organise his defensive wall as Dunk prepared to take the kick.
Referee Martin Atkinson blew his whistle to signal that it was okay for Dunk to take the set-piece and he scored, giving the Seagulls a potential route back into the game.
They were unable to breach the Reds again as Jurgen Klopp’s men again took maximum points; they have now won 13 of their 14 games this season, only drawing against Manchester United.
But fans were still left perplexed as to how Dunk’s goal was allowed to stand, with many believing that Adrian simply wasn’t ready.
