The Kalvin Phillips for England campaign has been going on for a while now with Leeds fans previously calling for the midfielder to get international recognition.
It’s not happened yet, but the signs are there to suggest that it could be on the horizon.
Indeed, Gareth Southgate was spotted at Elland Road on Saturday, and Phil Hay has said that Phillips isn’t far off a call-up.

The man himself says he doesn’t think of ‘owt like that’, but the chance may come for the midfielder sooner rather than later.
Being called up to a national team competing at the highest level is a mean feat for any player, but for a man who has only played in the Championship, it would be seriously impressive.
However, aside from the pride the fans would feel upon seeing their very own Yorkshire Pirlo pull on an England strip, Phillips getting a Three Lions call-up could have both positive and negative effects for the Whites.
If Phillips performs how we all know he can on the big stage then it could prick the ears of many Premier League sides looking for midfield options. After all, he dominated Mesut Ozil when Leeds took on Arsenal a few weeks ago, making as many as nine tackles.
Of course, this could work in United’s favour as they could command a much higher transfer fee for a man who has impressed at international level rather than just in the second tier of English football. However, it would also make it much harder for the Whites to keep hold of him.
We all know how good Phillips is in the Championship, previously being dubbed as the best player in the division, and if Leeds go up they’ll want to test his credentials in the top-flight.
However, it’s going to be incredibly tough to keep hold of him if he impresses in an England shirt with the teams like Manchester United previously looking at securing his services.
In other news, Phil Hay has hinted towards a late transfer twist for Leeds United.
