Mbappe scored brilliant goal vs LeganesCame from dead-ball situationLaw states it doesn't count as direct free-kickFollow GOAL on WhatsApp! 🟢📱WHAT HAPPENED?
With the score at 2-2, Mbappe stood over a free-kick from just outside the box. He rolled the ball to Fran Garcia a yard away, who stopped it dead in its tracks and allowed Mbappe to curl home a superb winner from a slightly different angle. Mbappe has never scored a direct free-kick goal and despite some fans claiming this effort broke his duck, that may not technically be true.

According to IFAB rules published on the FA website, "the ball is in play when it is kicked and clearly moves". That would suggest Mbappe took the free-kick when he rolled it to Garcia and that his eventual shot was from open play.
