Loads of Liverpool fans are fearing the worst for this weekend’s trip to Chelsea, after Dejan Lovren promised the Reds would atone for their Carabao Cup defeat.
Lovren made his first Liverpool appearance of the season on Wednesday night as the Reds lost 2-1 to Chelsea.
Daniel Sturridge’s audacious finish gave Jurgen Klopp’s side a second-half lead, but goals from Emerson and Eden Hazard won it for the Blues.
The two sides of course face off again on Saturday evening, and Lovren has promised a better performance from the Reds.
“Maybe this is tonight like a warm-up for Saturday and so we know what we need to do better,” the 29 year-old said.
“When you look altogether, it’s the first time that we played like that, [there were] a lot of changes and it was looking quite well, until of course they scored a second goal, but we will take it.

“On Saturday we have a big game against them and we will improve, definitely. I’m confident that we will do much, much better.”
Liverpool fans were fuming at the Croatian defender when he returned from World Cup duty hiding an injury, and these comments seem to represent a similar cycle.
The 46-cap international has a knack of timing his interviews poorly, nearly always speaking out about his improved form before making a huge mistake in the following game.
Fans are worried this interview may be the kiss of death for Saturday’s match, and you can find some of the best Twitter reactions down below…
